Kerri and Maggie are the doulas behind Doula Sisters. Together they have over 17 years of experience supporting families during labor and birth and have attended over 500 births. They are Brooklyn based but serve all of New York City.
Maggie grew up in Indiana and moved to Brooklyn 10 years ago. One of four siblings she always found a way to stand out and make others laugh. With a background in marriage and family therapy, she has found this work to be completely rewarding. She continues to moonlight for the Brooklyn Birthing Center and for home birth midwives as a midwife's assistant. She is a Sister, Doula, Mother and Friend.
She is the perfect combination of down to earth and funny with wisdom and experience. Maggie has the ability to empower you to be the best, most confident, strongest YOU during pregnancy, labor, pushing, and then Mama once your baby is here. Her rare sensitivity to timing and tone allows her to know exactly when to step in and offer encouragement, and when to step back and create space for a family to just be together. She provides incredible support at an especially vulnerable time and does so with compassion, patience, and humor.
Kerri grew up in the heart of a true village here in Brooklyn. One of seven siblings and a daughter to every mother in the neighborhood. Kerri learned how to love and honor relationships outside of "family." In turn she has carried the knowledge of how it truly does "Take A Village" deep in her heart. She is a Sister, Doula, Mother, and Friend.
Her ability to connect with you during your journey from pregnancy into a family is more than you expect. She will help you experience your birth, feeling supported and loved. Her nurturing and intuitive presence encourages you to trust your body. Her gift of knowing your needs during labor comes from her own birth experiences and the women before you. During her DONA training Kerri found her calling. She wants to give to others what she was born into... love and trust.
